Proportional-Integral-Derivative
Definition
A control algorithm that adjusts an output based on the size of the current error, the accumulated error over time, and the rate the error is changing.
Proportional reacts to how far off you are; integral reacts to how long you have been off and removes the residual offset; derivative adds damping and amplifies noise.
Most pump and pressure loops in water and wastewater run well on proportional and integral only.
