Magnetic flowmeter
Definition
A flowmeter that applies a magnetic field across the pipe and measures the voltage the moving conductive liquid induces, following Faraday law of induction.
No moving parts and no obstruction in the bore, which suits wastewater and slurries. It requires a conductive liquid, a completely full pipe, and grounding rings to give the measurement its reference.
Also known as: mag meter, electromagnetic flowmeter.
