Uninterruptible Power Supply

Definition

A battery-backed supply that carries a load through a power interruption. In control panels this is often a 24 VDC module rather than an AC unit.

At an unattended remote site, holding the controller and the radio up long enough to report the outage is frequently worth more than backing the whole panel.
