Square root extraction

Definition

Taking the square root of a differential pressure signal to obtain flow, because the differential is proportional to the square of flow.

The classic error is applying it twice, once in the transmitter and again in the PLC. The reading is then wrong everywhere except at zero and full scale, which is exactly where people check.
