Definition

The drawing showing process equipment, piping, instrumentation, and control loops, and the primary reference for how a plant is meant to work.

Not to be confused with PID control. The P&ID is where instrument tags, control loops, and interlocks are first defined for a project.

Also known as: P and ID.
