Compliance voltage
Definition
The minimum voltage a two-wire transmitter needs across its own terminals to operate. Whatever the supply provides above it is available to drive current through the rest of the loop.
Maximum loop resistance is the supply voltage minus the compliance voltage, divided by 0.020 amps. Run out of headroom and the loop tracks correctly at low readings but clips near full scale.
Also known as: lift-off voltage.
