Latch and unlatch

Definition

Instructions that set or reset a bit and hold that state when the rung goes false, unlike an ordinary coil.

Powerful and easy to misuse. Every latch needs a clearly identified unlatch, or the bit becomes a state nobody can clear without going online.

Also known as: set reset, OTL, OTU.
