Water & Wastewater

Force main

Definition

A pressurized pipe carrying wastewater from a lift station to a discharge point, as opposed to a gravity sewer.

Pump runs must be long enough to reach scour velocity, or solids settle in the main. This is one of the constraints that argues for a wider wet well level band.
