Signal validation

Definition

Logic that checks whether an analog reading can be trusted, using out-of-range, frozen-value, and rate-of-change tests.

The dangerous failure is not a reading of zero, it is a believable reading that happens to be wrong. Validation catches those and lets the controller hold the last good value and alarm rather than act on bad data.
